In 1965, Bill Kaney along with two of his sons designed and created the American Fed Beef Program. Bill worked with Local Ranchers and Cattlemen to set the standards for his company The American Fed Beef were all high end Choice, selected by key personnel and by Bill Kaney. Bill traveled to the Cattle ranches and throughout California, Utah and Nebraska, stamping his selected cattle American Fed.Bill had the distinct emblem rolled on the forequarters and hindquarters. The tracking system was very extensive and well before its time. With the success of the new program the company was able to capture and sustain long term relationships with restaurants, hotels and private clubs in Southern California and the Central Coast. We see a re-birth of these programs now years later In the close to 50 years the Meat Industry has seen many different changes. The Golden Age of the Independent Meat Company was in full swing from the 1950’s to early 1980’s. It was a time of innovation and being accountable The vertical integration and introduction of Large Independent Meat Companies has all but lost the tradition of how our Food is prepared. We here at Kaney are changing that everyday.
